WHAT A BLESSING!!! 9/30

Today was a marathon day - but it was a marathon day full of blessings!

We decided to go to the gym first thing, but Tom needed to take his truck to the shop again! The transmission has been failing since yesterday so it had to go back for repairs. We hoped it would get done quickly. He feared it needed a new transmission! He didn’t even dare drive it on the freeway. From the gym, he was planning to go to pickleball, then we scheduled a temple session, then we needed to help clean the temple, then we planned to take his truck to the repair place after doing all that.

But he decided we should take his truck after the gym, drop it off, then drop him off at pickleball. We hoped the stake center where they play would be open at 8am because the mission office is there, but when we got there, we found out it doesn’t open until 9am – same time that pickleball starts.

So we sat in the car and waited until it opened. Then I left him and went home.

I only had an hour at home to change clothes, print names, have breakfast and stuff like that, so by 10:20, I got back in the car and headed to the temple to meet Tom.

His pickleball is in the stake center that is next to the temple, so he quit pickling 15 minutes early, changed clothes, and walked over to the temple to meet me.

The temple was really wonderful, as usual. We love going. I’m so grateful to have a husband who treasures and values the temple like I do.

The 11am session ends right in time for us to change into scrubs and be ready to clean. We only had to wait about 15 minutes before time to start cleaning. We had a good turnout this time. I did 3 jobs and we were both done in 30 minutes.

By then, Tom’s truck was ready to be picked up! Happy Days!!! They diagnosed the problem and fixed it so fast that they didn’t even charge for their time! This is our new favorite place to get cars repaired!  Tom was extremely elated! He was dreading $1,000+ for a new transmission and was so happy to know the transmission is fine.

So then he decided to take it to a muffler shop. The truck is very noisy, so he assumed he needed a new muffler. We dropped it off, then went to have lunch/dinner at Red Robin where I had a gift card to use.

We had a nice, leisurely lunch (it was about 4pm). As we were finishing, the muffler place called to say the truck was done.

Another blessing– they said he didn’t need a new muffler – there was a pipe leading to the muffler that was leaking and just needed reconnected. What a blessing! So that cost less than 1/4th of what Tom thought it might cost. He is still elated at the blessings we received today!

Even though it was 5pm when we finally got home, we took a little nap. That’s dangerous at that hour, but we needed it really bad.

Then, finally, I was able to do my morning routine! We had been gone since 6:30am – nearly 11 hours!

But we are both very grateful that things turned out so good! WHAT A BLESSING!
