It's getting exciting

4/28/16            Well, there was a chance we’d get the keys to our new house today, but it didn’t happen. L super sad frownie face! But I got ahead of myself. I forgot to mention yesterday that when we returned from Fresno, just as we were driving up the hills and almost to our house, I could see a storm coming in. I could see strong lightening, and hear very loud thunder. It had just started to rain, and as the rain hit the roads, steam was coming up off them. It looked really cool. Within half-block I arrived at home and it was suddenly pouring so hard I didn’t even want to get out of the house to walk to the door! Marc was just leaving, so he got out in the rain and opened the garage door for me so I wouldn’t have to go so far in the rain. Tom had come in his own car (cause we stopped in Napa to pick the truck up.) and when he got there a minute later, it was hailing! It was raining so hard there was a river flowing do...

Getting packed to go!

4/27      We left Tanya’s at the same time she left to take the kids to school and went to the title company. They apologized for the late notice and said they would do everything they could to get the house to close on tomorrow since we had traveled so far to get them the check in a timely manner. That sure made it worth the trip! It also worked out well to use that trip to get our 3 rd car down there.  We got permission to park the Miata at the house along with all of Tom’s special plants that he’s been nurturing for so long for our new house. The van was all the way full of his plants – special flowers, succulents, and grapes. So now the we might actually get our keys tomorrow! That’s super exciting! Anyway, we left from there and headed to Castro Valley where Tom needed to interview a friend for a job, then we grabbed some lunch and went home to start packing. We got home around 3pm and packed till after 9pm. We got the van and truck packed...

Running for the sale of the house

4/16        Today we got to go to Napa to meet with a notary to sign the final papers! Hooray! Double Hooray!! Such excitement! So we drove down to Napa and signed the papers. We were hoping Tom’s truck would be done so we could pick it up while we were there, but it wasn’t ready so we headed back home. Alissa had taken the kids home, so the house was quiet, and we decided to grab a quick nap! It felt so good! After that we watched an episode of Madam Secretary, and then Tom checked his email. There was a message from our title company saying they needed the money for closing TOMORROW and asked us to fed ex it to them immediately. Unfortunately, it was almost 5pm and it wasn’t possible to drive all the way to Napa in time to meet their deadline for it to go out today.  So we decided to drive the check to Fresno. If we took it to Napa now or waited and took it to Fed Ex tomorrow, they wouldn’t get it until Thursday and we wouldn’t close u...

Fun with grandkids

I had planned to spend Monday and Tuesday packing and cleaning the house and shampooing the carpets. The plan was that we would pack the car and truck on Wednesday and leave Thursday morning for Fresno, but with Marc and Alissa visiting, I spent Monday playing with the kids and talking to Alissa. Marc was working with an electrician on their house. He got a lot of other stuff done and made good progress on their house.  But we had a lot more fun here with the kids. I got to hold the baby a whole lot, giving Alissa some small breaks now and then. Bodin is old enough now that he smiles and grins and is so, so cute! I didn’t even care that I got nothing else done! It was way fun.
