Scorching the World

5/30/16                 We enjoyed the hotel a lot. It was a nice end-of-trip reward and I was glad I chose it. We slept great and woke up refreshed!             We wanted to get on the road by 9am to hopefully avoid ‘end-of-holiday-traffic’, so we didn’t go out to breakfast but focused on eating our many snacks we already had in the car.  We finally stopped in Reno for some lunch and stretching and were excited to see that we only had a couple of hours left before we could meet up with the McGills and turn over Nina. Unfortunately, as soon as we passed Lake Tahoe, there was bumper-to-bumper traffic and we crept along at about 20 mph. It was painful and made our trip 2 hours longer! Then finally it broke loose and we were able to go a decent speed all the way to meet Tami and Phil. Boy were we glad to get out of the car! ...

My head hurt really bad all night again, so waking up was pretty hard, but I do love Sundays! I got a fabulous shower and got ready for church. We got pretty much everything packed before church and I left with Anne and Acell to join them for choir practice. Anne directs the choir and Carma sings with the choir when they aren’t in the other single’s ward, so it was a great, unusual, and wonderful experience. Carma and Vic were speaking in Sacrament meeting,   so we were glad we were there for that. They both did really good, so it was a good meeting. Tom and I left right after Sacrament meeting and picked up Nina and then packed real quick. Tanya had dropped off Caeli on her way home, so she left about 1 ½ hours ahead of us and we got to have Caeli with us for the trip home! We got to Winnemucca about 6pm and settled into a nice hotel. 5/28/16                 We really hadn’t ever started having family reunions for my family of siblings, so this was done on purpose and it turned out great. We are going to try to make it annual so our little grandchildren get to know their cousins and cousins once removed. We agreed to start the reunion at the park in Lehi at noon, so all of my siblings (with spouses) got together again for breakfast at IHOP.     It was really fun to sit and talk again and it makes us all realize how important it is to stay in closer contact with each other. After the first picture was taken, we decided it would be funnier if the picture was of everyone taking a picture. We barely were able to get up and dressed in time to go to the free breakfast before they shut it down at 9am. The breakfast was less than wonderful, so we decided to skip it tomorrow. Then we cleaned up and prepared to make videos of us singing. This is something that I’ve wanted to do for years, but never have been able for us to find enough time or motivation to get it done. I had to get pretty pushy about it, and we finally got everything set up and tried to begin recording. Unfortunately, the very first song we tried to sing turned out kinda wonky and we started laughing so hard we couldn’t start.
