Weight control mindset revisited.

I'm back on the topic of weight control and having a good mindset. I looked in my old posts to find where I put the last one. It seemed like it wasn't that long ago, so I was surprised to find that it was clear back in 2008: http://scorchingtheworld.blogspot.com/2008/08/weight-control-mindset.html That was a really good post. I enjoyed reading it again. Tom and I did really well on his diet for almost a year. Then the doctor said he had done so well he could introduce 1 grain a day back into his diet. Soon after that we couldn't afford for him to go to her anymore so we got more lax on the diet. Then in March of 2009 we went on vacation, and all previous schedules and diets slowly went out the window. We got out of the habit of exercising every day. We added back 1 grain a day, and then it sure got easy to accidentally eat 2 because we forgot we already had 1. Then a little taste of this and a little taste of that while on vacation gave way to eating pretty much everything ...

Temple blessings

Tom and I served as workers in the temple for the first time today. I just needed to write my feelings after such a wonderful experience. I have to start with the mention that we were called to work in the temple over a month ago, but because of Tom's cancer and surgery and recovery, it took till now for him to be able to handle 6 hours without a a rest or nap. So today was our first day. I've sort of dreaded starting. In the first place, it seems to me that it is going to be VERY difficult to give up our Saturdays. Ever since we moved into our house 9 years ago and then Tom was called to be a Bishop 8 years ago, we've waited patiently for the day when he wouldn't be so tied up and we'd have our Saturdays to do things around the house and to visit our kids. We were anxiously waiting for a more free schedule to do the things that have piled up over the past almost-decade. But now instead of more time, Tom has less time. He still works 10-12 hours a day, and then has ...
