Sewing 9/28


Happy birthday to my son who has always kept life interesting!!!!

Tom and I woke up around 3am and got up. We were so wide awake! I did a load of laundry and hung it outside in the dark. Then I cleaned the stovetop. It looks much better now. I wrote in my blog and did other computer stuff until I started feeling sleepy again – I think around 5 or 5:30. We both went back to bed. I didn’t sleep much after that, but I think I did doze off a little. Tom slept soundly until about 7:30 am!

Tom still wanted to go to the gym, even though it was so late, so we left about 8am. I remembered why we don’t like to go to Fresno at that time of day. So much traffic!

Tom’s truck wasn’t running well Saturday. He said he barely got home (from wherever) because the transmission wasn’t shifting. This morning he checked the transmission fluid, so before heading to Fresno he bought some and added it. That took so long that he didn’t have time to go to the gym. He told me just as I arrived at the gym, that he would go straight to pickleball instead of the gym.

So I got right back into my car and went back home. Shhh, don’t tell him. He thinks I stayed and got a good workout.

When I got home, I went straight to digging and moving rocks and spent about an hour in the nice cool morning air. It was really nice outside. Then I did all things I always do in the house.

In the afternoon, I made a patchwork hot pad. It helped me remember why I don’t make quilts.

I decided I’m ready to make a new purse, so I began gathering supplies and printed out instructions. But it was too hot in the office to want to stay there and keep sewing so I gave that up for the day.

Tom got home about 6pm. After pickleball he went straight to Tanya’s rental. He said they are very close to being finished! I sure hope so. On my birthday Tanya gave us a generous gift card for Cheesecake Factory to thank us for all our hard work.

I couldn’t get Hulu or Paramount Plus to work and couldn’t figure out why. Tom didn’t have patience to sit and watch me try to fix it, so we watched the end of a movie we started yesterday on Prime and the last half of Follow Him with S. Michael Wilcox. I adore him.

The recital 10/8

We had scheduled to help clean the Church this morning, and planned to go get Tom’s Prague watercolor painting framed after that. But last night our darling little 6-year-old neighbor came over to give us a hand-written and colored in crayon invitation and a “ticket” for their recital this morning at 9am. The ticket was on a piece of paper that had been torn off. So cute! We definitely could not miss this! There are 2 kids, maybe 6 and 8 or so. The girl was going to play the piano, and the boy was going to sing – The Muffin Man. They had also invited our neighbors who are about our age. I think the 4 of us are like grandparents for the kids.  Their whole family is so cute. We love them. But first we needed to clean the church. Blatant Blessings 2

This month someone stole our extension ladder. Ok, it was in the back yard, fully visible, but it is the first time anything has been stolen from our yard. I guess we'll have to start putting things away. A while back my favorite camera died. I looked into getting it fixed, but it was over 3 years old, so I doubt it is worth it. Tom bought me a new camera for Christmas, but he bought me the camera he always wanted, and now he's carrying it with him for work. The ride-on lawnmower died. Tom looked at it and took it apart and found it needed a new pully. We've started having problems with the internet losing connection over and over. I finally gave up and called AT&T (a thing I try to avoid at all costs) and they told me I need a new modem. Mine was over a year old and suddenly became defective. You can't just go buy one either, you have to order it and wait for it to come in the mail. More money means it comes sooner; less money means you wait longer with unreliable ...

Tom’s Garden 6/12

Tom doesn’t just like maintaining the yard – what he loves is creating lovely areas. He has worked for weeks on the area along the back of the house going to the garage. Today he finished getting sprinklers to all the pots. It’s really pretty along there now, except for all the junk on the other side of the sidewalk, but we won’t talk about that. He loves to have his vegetable garden, and likes putting flowers among the vegetables. He hopes to have lots of string beans, beets, cabbage, tomatoes, and cantaloupe this summer.         Tanya came over after her massage and we showed her Enola that we watched last night. It was just as good the 2 nd time and fun to watch with Tanya, who enjoyed all the funny parts, too.   We installed the new kitchen lights that we bought on Thursday. We replaced the ceiling fan first and had nothing but problems with it. The box that the fixture connects to was loose in the ceiling and we tried 4 or 5 different things...
